 THE OPIOID CRISES: Ways to Safely Treat our Patient´s Pain!

SPEAKER: Deborah Tedesco, DNP, APRN, ANP-BC, AP-PMN, CWS, CWCN-AP. Dr. Tedesco has been a nurse for 26 years and a nurse practitioner for 20 years. She completed her BSN and DNP degrees at UCF and her MSN at University of Florida. She is certified in adult health, pain management nursing and wound care. Dr. Tedesco currently works with the outpatient clinic of Orlando Health, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery Institute, where she provides preoperative and postoperative care, wound care and acute surgical pain management to patients undergoing reconstruction after surgery related to cancer or trauma. Her research and QI interests include improving the patient experience, managing expectation related to surgery, and effective postoperative pain management while limiting the use of opioids. Dr. Tedesco´s QI project "Managing Postoperative Pain While Limiting Opioid Prescriptions" was featured as a Best Practice Case Study by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) at the 2019 ACS Quality and Safety Conference. She is the current President of the Central Florida Advanced Nursing Practice Council where she also enjoys coordinating monthly volunteer share-a-meal opportunities for APRNs at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida and Harbor House of Central Florida.

This is where you may find street parking, and this where the parking garage is located. The parking garage is right across Ridgewood from the Landmark Building 2. The fee for the parking garage is approximately 4 dollars/hour. Enter the building from the parking garage side (Ridgewood Street), turn right in the lobby, and take the 1st left. Our classroom/conference room is Suite 110, on the right past the fitness center. The Security Guard can give directions.

SPEAKER: Janet Jesiolowski,BSN, RN-BC, CSRN, CFN, SCRN, is an ER Nurse at St. Vincentīs medical Center, in Jacksonville, FL. She has a vast clinical background in critical care, telemetry, PACU, Med-Surg and ER. SPEAKER: Shelene Giles, MS, BSN, BA, RN, CRC, CNLCP, MSCC, CLCP, is Founder and President of FIG. Shelene has extensive knowledge/experience within the medical and vocational case management fields. She has been employed in these areas for over twenty years. She holds college degrees in Nursing, Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, and Business Administration. She is a licensed Registered Nurse and her certifications include Certified Nurse Life Care Planner, Certified Life Care Planner, Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, Medicare Set-Aside Consultant Certified, and Legal Nurse Consultant Certified.
